Helium provides children facing life-long medical conditions and disabilities with multidisciplinary creative activities that support their psychosocial needs and wellbeing.
Supported by the Creative Ireland Programme, Helium Arts have developed a new Creative Health Hub model which will bring their innovative, multidisciplinary creative projects to more children and teenagers across Ireland.
In each Creative Health Hub location, Helium’s artist can deliver a continuous programme of activity connecting between hospitals, community and public settings. The programme will support children and young people to let their creativity free, and enable them to experience the many benefits that creative engagement can make to the mental health and wellbeing of children facing the social and emotional challenges of long-term illness.
Through their life- changing “arts on prescription” approach, Helium meet children in hospital who will then be referred to their workshop series in community & public settings.
The Creative Health Hubs in Cork and Limerick were launched in January 2019. The hubs are taking place in partnership with Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Limerick alongside community and creative partners in both locations.
