The support scheme for new musicians Glór Ár Linne was launched in late February, in the hopes of finding young musicians who are creating in Irish to undertake six months of mentorship and guided stage and studio training in preparation for a summer spent playing on national and international stages in 2025. Five bands and/or musicians will be selected to undertake 3 months of mentoring, studio recording, the opportunity to perform at Féile na Gealaí and Electric Picnic, regular gigs with Dublin City Council and workshops with industry professionals on songwriting, PR, stage presence and more.
Glór Ár Linne hopes to build on the momentum Irish language music and culture has gained in the past few years thanks to the likes of Kneecap, Craobh 1916 and RÓIS. The programme was launched with performances in Dublin establishments that are bilingual and subscribed to the Baile Átha Cliath le Gaeilge scheme – with James Shannon bringing Irish language rap performing in Troy’s Family Butchers on Moore Street and Aisling Moran singing in the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland greenhouse in Glasnevin.
