Based on interviews with the creators' own mothers, Tallaght’s Freshly Ground Theatre are examining the changing definitions of girlhood, womanhood and motherhood.

An exploration of memory and intergenerational bonds, theatre-maker Martha Knight and Freshly Ground Theatre have produced The Bold Step with five young artists from the Tallaght community.

“In my experience, theatre is a very collaborative form of making work [...] this project is encouraging people to think about their own memories, to think about their own childhoods, [and] have discussions with each other”.

This initiative was made possible through South Dublin County Council’s Culture and Creativity Strategy.
