This project centres on selecting and supporting a group of diverse women who will explore, discuss and curate an exhibition of artworks by female artists from the Kildare County Council Municipal Art Collection. The exhibition will start on Thursday 30th Jan in Áras Chill Dara, Kildare County Council and run until 6th March and can be viewed Monday - Friday during office hours. A closing talk will take place on 6th March at 1pm in celebration of International Women's Day 2020.
The exhibition is an important output of the process from a public engagement point of view, but its true purpose in the project is that it is the means which the group of participants will benefit. Participation in group creative activity offers significant potential for individual and community wellbeing and sense of achievement, it is these aspects and results that are at the core of this project. In the process of curating the exhibition, the participants will explore and experiment with a range of relevant art techniques, visit the artworks and research and discuss the lives of artists, thereby engaging in group creative activity. All aspects of the creative project will align to support and encourage wellbeing and sense of empowerment through art and culture.
