Marian Blafe, a local artist and teacher of Art, gave four zine-making workshops (each of three hours) in local second-level schools. A zine is a self-produced booklet with images and text. It often allows for the expression of 'niche' interests and ideas. No other local artist has come forward to do work of this kind, which makes Marian's contribution really special. A selection of the finished work was exhibited at an event in Backstage Theatre, Longford, on 12 June, held to celebrate creativity in local schools.
