Women's Film Network
A group of fifteen women in the Waterford community with an interest in film making approached Creative Waterford to discuss the opportunity of formalising their network. They want to form a group of trained and available local female crew to meet the needs of the increasing amount of productions choosing the Southeast as a location, and also to create original film content. These women explained that although they all have some experience in film, many of them have extended gaps in their CV due to childcare and other similar responsibilities.
We will therefore be funding the network to complete a series of industry specific continuous professional development workshops, on everything from securing funding as a film maker, to camera technique, to post-production and marketing. The content and facilitators of these workshops will be chosen by the network in line with their identified needs.
The ideal outcome of these workshops would be that the skills built would compensate for previous opportunities lost and give these women the confidence to put themselves forward for professional film opportunities in the future.
