Waterford Maritime Community History
Waterford Maritime Community History is a collaboration between Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club, Dungarvan Museum Society and Dungarvan Drama Circle. Together, we will produce an interactive and immersive experience to engage and inform the community and visitors of Dungarvan’s colourful maritime history as part of Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club’s “Sail 75” festival.
Come on a harbour walk and meet some of Dungarvan’s gregarious characters brought to life by Dungarvan Drama Circle. Keep an eye out in the town’s shops and cafés for photos and stories illustrating Dungarvan’s days as a busy port.
Watch out for a Viking invasion! Déise Medieval, a Viking re-enactment group, will be encamped in front of Dungarvan Castle, their settlement (and battles!) spilling out onto the quays. This group demonstrate ancient crafts such as coin striking, spinning and cooking.
Because of current Covid restrictions, some of the festival programme has been postponed to September. To keep updated on the latest news, go to the Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club Facebook Page.
