County Waterford has approximately 150 thatch houses left and with the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht’s proposed Strategy for Vernacular Architecture, it is now a good time to look at thatch, its value and significance and what it means to owners and the general public.

Short videos will provide the story behind thatch, its material culture and customs. Speakers include home owners, thatcher's, suppliers of materials, Department of CHG and The Heritage Council.
