The Great Read: Westward Ho!....Wandering West with Words
Following on from last year's Westward Ho! ramble, join Galway Library Service on a coastal journey as they wander further in the footsteps of our travel writers and discover the spoken word, poetry, prose and song which is embodied in some of our western writers, such as Seosamh Ó hÉanaí, Tim Robinson, Joe Steve Ó Neachtain, Caitlin Maude and others.
In the immortal words of Tim Robinson ‘the ‘inconstant coast’ where the relationship between land and sea is of a dazzling complexity’, a writer’s trail will be created that leads along the western seaboard, stopping off where the words were written, the songs were sung and the poetry was spoken.
Immersing ourselves in the beauty of the landscape and through our descriptive language both Irish and English we will visit the places that inspired our writers, speak their words and document their legacy.
