The Crafty Yellowship
The Crafty Yellowship educates people about the two drivers of the climate crisis: biodiversity loss and carbon emissions, and facilitates a creative response to the awareness. Participants will leave with a unique creation, an understanding of the problem and its root causes, as well as strategies for addressing them. In addition, they will build a community and network that extends beyond the classroom.
The format is simple: a 20 minute discussion of key aspects of the climate crisis with Anna Browne followed by one to two hours of hands-on creative work by the participants in response to the discussion, facilitated by artists Bertille de Lestrade or Martina Coyle.
Participants will be guided in the use of mixed media to create a 3D piece. The hands-on practice allows for reflection on and development of the learnings, and provides a welcoming environment to build community.
There are 5 separate new and exciting workshop themes running in Castlepollard and Mullingar:
Bloom where you’re planted, Get the Flax, Home Sweet Home, Let’s go Bananas and Going Underground
Workshops are open to everyone with a token charge in place to reduce no-shows - booking on https://bigskyflowers.ie.
Our planned exhibition at the close of the project during or close to sustainable development goals week will be an opportunity to increase community engagement, with participants bringing family and friends to share the work and learnings more widely.
