Telling Ancient Tales in Ballymore

Candlelit Tales is a theatre company founded by brother and sister Aron and Sorcha Hegarty.  They are joined by a group of talented actors and musicians, together they specialise in bringing ancient stories to life - sometimes with a  modern twist.  Candlelit Tales will bring their unique style of storytelling to Ballymore on 29th November, thanks to the funding from Creative Ireland.  They are brining their show 'Woman King', which tells the ancient Irish story of An Táin Bó Cúlaigne (The Cattle-raid of Cooley) from Queen Meave's perspective.  This story, often referred to simply as the Táin, tells how Maeve and her army journeyed from the Royal site of Rathcroghan in Connaught to Cooley in Ulster, where they are met by CúChulainn.  Maeve's army succeeded in capturing the prize brown bull of Cooley which they brought back to Connaught.  Their journey home brought them through Westmeath via Ballymore.  The event is funded by Creative Ireland and admission is free.  Doors open at 7:30pm and the show takes place from 8pm-9pm.  It is described as PG and children must be accompanied by an adult.
