Stand up bilingual comedy show For the love of Milseáin with Áine Gallagher
For the Love of Milseáin is the bilingual comedy show written and performed by Áine Gallagher, a self proclaimed Irish language enthusiast and known by many as “the queen of offbeat”.
In this show she uses comedy to create a really fun experience that offers a new and fresh approach to speaking and learning Irish. Throughout the show, Áine weaves bilingual storytelling with her unique and awkward style of humour to share her own stories of learning the language. She describes some of her experiences of speaking the Irish language, such as the time she met President Michael D Higgins and decided to wear her Gold Fáinne or when she mixed up the words “ag marcáil” and “ag marcaíocht” with her Irish speaking football team. This show is a wonderful, hilarious and very accessible mix of English and Irish, that allows anyone to enjoy it, even those who don’t have much Irish . Using her unique comedic style, Áine navigates mistake making, mug cake baking and her obsession with Lionel Ritchie to inspire you to speak Irish.
This event will be staged in the Swift Cultural Centre , Trim, Co. Meath on Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th December 2024 for Leaving cert students attending local secondary schools. It will give students the opportunity to engage with the Irish language in a fun and unique way outside of a school setting. Closed event for specific schools by invitation only.
