Spring into Storytime
To tie in with Libraries Ireland’s Spring Into Storytime Festival, Galway Public Libraries would like to create a visual story in the windows of Ballybane, Westside & St. Augustine St. libraries in Galway City.
This could provide a platform for local visual artists to create an exhibition in a loose, story format that reflects our natural heritage and storytelling heritage in connection with Springtime.
The project would tie in with the national Healthy Ireland Strategy and Healthy Galway by stimulating people to incorporate the window exhibition with a healthy, mindful walk within their 5km by linking the window story with local landmarks & nature events, using online quizzes and narratives and a creative writing competition.
Quiz eg. How many baby cygnets did you see? Have you spotted the red squirrels in Merlin Woods? Can you name the children of Lir?
It will be a free event and will take place in April 2021.
It will be displayed in the windows of public libraries in Galway City i.e. Ballybane, Westside & St. Augustine St. which each have considerable window frontage.
Drawing attention to city walks along the canals, Terryland Forest Park and Merlin Woods
