This Creative Ireland funding will ensure the retention and development of Sphere Youth Theatre on a 4-day week basis. 

Following an area based research exploring cultural provision in the North-Central Administrative Area of Dublin City Council it was decided that investment was needed in the cultural landscape of the area. Our investment in Sphere Youth Theatre is an attempt to respond to this need within the underserved communities of Darndale and Kilbarrack. 

The work of the Sphere Youth Theatre can be categorised as follows: 

I. Sphere Youth Theatre 

• Twice weekly workshops, and minimum 1 showcase and 1 performance per annum 

II. Drama facilitation workshops 

• Workshops in local schools and youth centres (target of 8 local secondary schools & 4 local youth centres)

III. Collaboration opportunities 

• Links with other theatres and opportunities (The Axis theatre, Youth Theatre Ireland, Dublin Youth Theatre, and The Gate Theatre)

 • Collaborations with CPD, local events (Darndale Festival, Halloween events) 

IV. Capacity building and sustainability 

• Further development of the Sphere Youth Theatre – programme, membership, and governance

• Developing new local leaders/facilitators - a focus on young people becoming facilitators

 • Using youth theatre/drama to provide insights or as a communication medium

 • Participating in national/regional events e.g. Cruinniu na n’Og & DIFF (Dublin International Film Festival).
