Social Prescribing and Creative Arts Pilot Programme
Social Prescribing is a means of enabling GPs and other frontline healthcare professionals to refer patients to a social prescribing co-ordinator - to provide them with a face to face conversation during which they can learn about the possibilities and design their own personalised solutions so that people with social, emotional or practical needs are empowered to find solutions which will improve their health and wellbeing, often using services and activities provided by the voluntary and community sector. The Waterford Social Prescribing Service is managed by the Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre and is funded by Slaintecare.
This pilot project aims to establish linkages between Waterford Social Prescribing Service, the Cultural Services of Waterford City and County Council and external practitioners in creative disciplines. This aim will be achieved by creating, implementing and evaluating two sets of participatory events over two four-week periods. These events will be based on cultural activities in the area of creativity.
Activities of this pilot project are not publically available, however people are welcome to connect with Waterford Social Prescribing Service via their GP or by contacting services in Waterford City socialprescribing@sacredheartfrc.ie / 0892501413 or socialprescribing-county@sacredheartfrc.ie / 0894917360
