This year, Charlestown is lighting up for the third time with a lantern extravaganza, masterfully orchestrated by the talented Tom Meskell.

Following successful previous years involving St. Attractas school, which attracted over 500 attendees, this year includes five local schools: Charlestown, Carracastle, Cloonlyon, Tavneena, and Barnacogue.

Key initiatives include:

• Collaboration with local library for promotion and public contact.
• Involvement of additional lantern facilitators to enhance talent.
• Hosting a Lantern Society evening for adults to learn lantern-making.
• Establishing a Saturday club for juniors and teenagers.
• Providing digital education packs to enable whole-school participation, potentially engaging 350 students.
