Roscommon Drama Group: 'one act' plays
Supported under the Open Call Strand 1: Community/Creative Collaboration, Roscommon Drama group will perform at Roscommon Arts Centre this June.
Two one act plays on the theme of Alzheimer’s /Dementia will aim to raise awareness of the conditions while also taking a humorous look at what can happen when a family inheritance doesn't go the way it was expected.
“Last lists of my mad mother” written by Julie Jensen is a touching, poignant play which look's at the toll that caretaking and Alzheimer’s disease can take on a parent child relationship. This production aims to reveal the humour within the tragedy. The second play is “Dead Mans Bells”, this play provides a different perspective on how to remedy a family inheritance problem on a rural farm in Ireland. This play is full of comedy and will strike a chord with the audience. Both plays will appeal to the local community in Roscommon and will bring into focus the challenges of caretaking and the power of the family dynamic. Our target audience will be the local community, those who regularly attend our plays and it is hoped, will attract some new audience members into the arts centre to experience what a local drama group can produce.
