Building upon Wicklow County Council’s Culture Team 2021 participation in the EU initiative ‘Playful Paradigm’, Wicklow Arts Office committed to continue to support projects that explore the intersections of play, social inclusion, intergenerational and cultural mediation, healthy lifestyles and ‘placemaking’ in 2023.  

Going forward, Rathdrum Placemaking will see Wicklow Arts Office lead collaborations with Wicklow arts organisations, such as Music Generation Wicklow, and local groups, such as the Rathdrum Development Association, to roll out a programme of activities and entertainment in Rathdrum.

The results of a research project carried out in 2022, designed to capture data on the town and community, will be used to assist in the placemaking campaign.

Activities will be planned to meet the specific needs of children, from young children, to early teens/young adults with abundant opportunities for participation.

All events will be provided free of charge and parents/guardians are encouraged to participate along with their children in the activities.
