Print Limerick: Studio to Shed
Limerick Printmakers (LP) and Limerick’s Mens Sheds will collaborate through a series of print workshops that celebrate the reopening of, and support a return to what has become a vital network of social learning spaces. Limerick Printmakers tutors will facilitate open discussion and creative experimentation while teaching printmaking techniques. An installation of all artwork created will close out the project.
Irish Men’s Sheds are a vital resource, with twenty-four listed across Limerick city & county. Sheds have only recently reopened following nineteen months of closure. Mens Sheds members need support during this transition, & access to new & diverse activities that serve as a means to process a complex & challenging period & their own responses.
A series of workshops over six weeks that will impart a range of printmaking skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment. LP will utilise more traditional processes such as relief printmaking (woodblocks & linocuts) as an entry point between manual, technical, & artistic thinking among the group before employing more contemporary processes such as silkscreen, monoprint, & cyanotype.
Participants are ages 35-70 years old and this project open to these specific groups only.
