Pride In Where We Live
Deborah O'Keeffe, local artist worked with the community in Ballydribeen to design and create a mural. The theme to include the lovely surroundings, the river Denagh and nature, for example 'Doirin Alainn' (name of one of the estates) means 'beautiful wooded area'.
This projects aim was to give the children in the community the chance to participate in creating something positive in the area. We hope the mural will be something that will lift the residents’ spirits, but also knowing that their children participated and that they had a chance to have their say with regards to the theme.
The mural depicts animals and flowers found in the local area, especially along the river Deenagh, which flows adjacent to the Ballydribeen estates. The Residents’ Association hopes that this will draw attention to the great amenity of the river and its biodiversity value.
