Living in memory of who we’ve lost, where we come from and where we’re going- renowned local performance artist, video maker and curator climate activist, Deej Fabyc of Live Art Ireland, leads this project in memory of her late partner and collaborator, Mark Newell, who passed away from a car crash in May 2023.

This project will engage with the communities of Lorrha /Dorrha & Redwood to produce a collaborative procession from Redwood Castle to the Redwood Bog.

This project includes Theresia Guschlbauer, an experienced producer of public participation events along with community members Olive O’Meara & James Heenan and artists Theresa Burke. The project aims to engage the local communities in creating costumes that express their memories and experiences related to the Bog area during it’s working history. In a wider context, the project highlights the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Redwood Bog area and will engage with recent & deep time and the climate emergency that is coming.

Four community planning & creating meetings will take place in August & Sept at the SCEAL Community Hub in Lorrha. Also, artists Deej Fabyc, Aisling Muller & Clare Hurley will host workshops from the 12th -15th of September create costumes from natural materials, learn photography for performance & performance techniques to develop the shape and feel of this procession.

The walk will be documented by film artists, Jouana Roubles, Michael Higgins & sound artist Oli Ryan. Meet at Redwood Castle 11am
