Our Vision Our Voice 2025
OUR VISION OUR VOICE 2025 is a collaborative creative arts project between the HSE Westmeath Mental Health Services, Mullingar Mental Health Association and Mullingar Visual Artist Claire Garry.
Participants from Westmeath Mental Health Services take part in the programme from May to October, giving them an opportunity, through art, to explore and express their experiences and insights around mental health. OVOV supports individuals with mental health challenges by providing a safe, caring and supportive environment in which they can relax, learn and grow while continuing their recovery journey. Each individual piece of work will contribute to a larger collection under the theme of Stronger together.
OVOV is designed to be inclusive, supporting individuals of all ages and backgrounds and with mixed abilities on a very personal mental health journey. Participants are nurtured to develop their abilities, learn new skills, and embrace new challenges with the aim of fostering independence and inclusion, helping participants gain confidence, be part of a community and enjoy a sense of achievement when work is exhibited.
OVOV provides a connection to the wider art community, breaks down barriers and allows participants make new contacts and friendships. Having a public exhibition will improve community perception of mental health, challenge attitudes and preconceptions around mental health. creating awareness and reflecting viewer responses from different perspectives.
