Building on the successful Pop-Up-Museum project where the community gathered historical information from its people, New Quay Community Development group representatives are currently working with photographer Andreas Riemenschneider of Doorusphoto.net to visually document those who now call New Quay their home. A ‘flavour’ of New Quay parish will be represented in a printed portrait collection for the Community. It is hoped that this will form a portrait exhibition which can eventually travel to various venues in Clare. The collection will also be made digitally available for archives in County Clare. In early June a creative workshop for the school children was hosted by historian Sharon Slator at New Quay National School. This workshop has an educational and interactive focus while enables and encourages children to ask questions about the past.
