New to Drama
‘New to Drama’ will involve a series of drama workshops where Traveller youth will be introduced to the world of drama and theatre. These workshops will be facilitated by an experienced drama teacher, encouraging participants to explore what is important to them personally. The project will culminate in a public performance, showcasing the collective work of the participants.
Engaging Traveller youth is a core focus of "New to Drama." The project will collaborate with local Traveller youth groups and schools to involve young people in the workshops. By exploring their interests creatively, participants will develop valuable skills in artistic expression. This engagement will inspire the next generation to take pride in their individuality and continue the tradition of storytelling and creative exploration.
This project will foster a sense of community within the Traveller population by bringing together young people to share and explore their interests and experiences. By participating in the workshops, Traveller youth will build connections, enhance their understanding of their own identities, and contribute to a shared narrative.
By focusing on the pillars of Creative Communities, Creative Youth, and Creative Health and Wellbeing, "New to Drama" will make a meaningful contribution to Creative Ireland Louth. The project will not only empower Traveller youth to express themselves creatively but also foster a stronger, more connected community.
