This project is a collaboration between HSE Health Promotion team, Waterford Libraries and Creative Waterford. 

A writing group will be advertised to new mothers on HSE platforms, library platforms and Creative Waterford platforms. It will meet weekly in the library for a period of six weeks over the Autumn/Winter months and will be free to attend. Mothers will be encouraged to bring their babies with them, overcoming the barrier of needing childcare to attend an activity. The writing class will encourage the women to write about their experiences of being a new parent, culminating in the creation of a writing collection that will be made available through Waterford Libraries.

Isolation is a common feeling amongst new mothers, and we feel that this programme will deliver a creative outlet for expressing those feelings, a natural peer network to alleviate those feelings, and a collection of literature that will resonate with those who experience those feelings in the future.
