My Singing Bird

My Singing Bird is a community-based arts project that will involve singing, story sharing, song writing, music making and visual arts.

It will take the theme of birds as the jumping off or taking flight point.

The project takes its title from My Singing Bird, a Munster folk tune with words by Irish poet, Edith Wheeler, popularised by the Clancy Brothers.  Artists Leisa Gray and Andy Spearpoint will work work in partnership with Silver Arch Family Resource Centre in Nenagh. The 5sessions will begin by learning and sharing popular songs about birds. From there, we will explore human relationships with the world of birds through song-writing, soundscape making, singing, creative writing and image making. There will be a series of five sessions at the Tyone Community Centre in Nenagh.

The planned session dates are April 2nd, 9th, 30th and May 7th, 14th, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Tyone Community Centre in Nenagh.
