Man of Stone
Man of Stone is a creative documentary, which pulled together writers, filmmakers, photographers, actors and members of the local community in South Donegal to make a documentary celebrating the life of Patsy Mc Inaw, who is now 76 and is a remarkable man and a born storyteller. In 1989, he started building his first dry stone wall on his farm and now thirty five years later he has built two miles of such walls on his land and is still going. He has become an instructor in dry stone construction and has taught people in his community and wider afield how to do it. This 19 minutes documentary captures Patsy’s legacy in a visually captivating format that illustrates his heritage skill, his storytelling and knowledge, and roots it in the rich quarrying and stone work tradition of Mountcharles, which stretches back to at least the 12th Century. Stone was mined and quarried in the area and the stone transported by land and sea for buildings and projects both here and abroad such as The National Museum, The National Library, St. Eunan's Cathedral, The GPO and Buckingham Palace.
