Look@Me 2024

Look@Me is a creative filmmaking programme by Cork International Film Festival (CIFF) designed to give 5th-class pupils in Strawberry Hill National School a platform to share their unique stories on film. Through workshops led by local professional filmmaker Maximilian Le Cain and supported by university film-making students, the children will explore storytelling through film, writing, drawing, and sound.

Look@Me will consist of two workshops and a feedback session which will take place in the school over 2-3 days. Although a film project, it will also involve elements of writing, drawing, sound recording, storytelling and performance. Its goal is to create a poetic cinematic collage that gives voice to the imaginations of the participants.

This project will enhance the pupils’ personal development at a critical transitional stage in their education before progressing to second level, providing them with a new creative skillset and allowing them to explore and use film as a medium of self-expression. It will offer an accessible artform through which their voices can be heard and the resulting films will be shared within their communities and at the Cork International Film Festival.
