As part of POP! (Power of Play!), Kildare Libraries Early Years Programme for 0-5 year olds, Selma Daniel, of Little Lion Dance Theatre, will provide Dance Performances called Moving Words for ages 3-5.

‘Moving Words’ is a story-time with live dance performance event for early years that combines the art of contemporary dance with reading of selected picture book, with aim of making live professional dance performance accessible to a wider audience. The main activity is the performance of an expressive reading of a selected picture book exclusively by Irish authors, showing illustrations and a dance interpretation that follows the story. This is followed by a planned activity for participants that encourages their creativity in dance, art, and speech expression. Each performance contains the following: 

● reading a picture book during live dance performance

● talking to the audience about the story read and their experiences

● an inclusive creative dance workshop leaning on the theme of the picture book

 ‘Moving Words’ is a simple format where Selma aims to bring children closer to reading and dancing. ‘Moving Words’ is devised and performed by Dance Artist Selma Daniel in collaboration with dancer, collaborator and performer Mirela Romero.
