iKilkenny Arts Office will initiate & deliver Knitted Together 2. This project will enable us to work with a diverse range of groups & individuals both in residential care homes and the public at large to create a number of knitted and crocheted blankets which will be distributed to various charities across the county. The project will engage with a whole new cohort of individuals & groups across the county, further building & strengthening existing relationships.

We will engage with new communities through nursing homes & residential care facilities, supporting positive ageing and mitigating the negative impact of social cocooning and social distancing by facilitating engagement in a project that will connect the participants to a ‘bigger than self’ goal through community creativity.

Artists will host interactive sessions, including tutorials & social get-togethers (online) with the participants in order to ensure that they feel supported and part of a community of makers. This will also enable participants to meet each other, ask questions & learn from professional artists & from each other.

We will organise a social event for 2021 enabling participants to come together and celebrate themselves and their work. We will invite them to come together with needles & wool in hand so they can make & chat together, and we can thank them for their involvement. This event will be dependent on Covid-19 restrictions.
