As a recipient of the Solstice Arts Centre Diversity Award, Subhashini will host a series of workshops and events to encourage participation and connection of Bharatanatyam and other dance forms with both children and adults in the community. The project will span 2024 and 2025. 

The first of these workshops are detailed below:

Kids Dance Workshop with Subhashini Goda

DANCE Sat 2 Nov | 2pm - 4pm | Free, booking essential| Ages 6-11

Introducing a different dance vocabulary to children, this workshop will focus on using gestures and movement to create little stories through dance. Incorporating small postures and foundational steps that are integral to the Indian classical dance form Bharatanatyam, participants will use these expressions to convey birds, animals, and so on, before finally building up to longer sentences and creating a short story. No prior dance experience necessary.
