The revival of the modern Olympic Games by Pierre de Coubertin embodied the ideal of a marriage between ‘Art and Sport, Muscles and Mind’. 2024 is the year of the Paris Olympics and almost 100 years since artists were an integral and medal winning inclusion of the games. 

To coincide with the Olympics, WGOA’s ‘Muscles and Mind’ exhibition, summer holidays and school camps, this open-call artist commission seeks to develop a work on the themes of representation, cultural value and art as competition.
