Imprint

In summer 2024 Cork Printmakers facilitators will lead a programme of 12 weekly workshops in printmaking with members of Cork Migrant Centre Women’s Coffee Morning Group at Nano Nagle Place. Participants will be encouraged to explore the project theme of Imprint in an undemanding and respectful way, to tell their own story and celebrate their imprint on the world and their sense of place through printmaking. They will explore this through the technical and creative potential of printmaking as a process which impresses, stamps or imprints an image onto paper.

Each session begins with the artist facilitator briefing the group on the daily work plan and methods of the printmaking technique, using simple and clear instructions which involve a visual demonstration of materials and their uses to overcome any possible language barriers.   The sessions have an overarching lesson plan in terms of printmaking techniques and themes of Imprint. Participants have the freedom to develop and guide their own work in an open and supported way. The culture of the workshops is to create a safe space for art making without the pressure of expectation or rules in order to maintain the wellbeing and social aspects of the workshops.

Cork Printmakers staff and facilitators develop and adapt workshops in response to and led by the women’s interests. This agile approach to working ensures that the workshops are accessible to both newcomers and more experienced or more regular attendees.
