Waterford has a rich and vibrant poetry and spoken word scene, and we want to explore different ways of exporting that poetry nationally and beyond. Many local creatives have approached the Arts Office about the prospect of creating poetry films, and this is something that we want to be able to support but need more experience in how best to do that.

Waterford Arts Office will conduct a residential weekend with local writers and film makers in Old Parish Gaeltacht, Co Waterford. The weekend will give the two genres of creatives an opportunity to partner together and combine their skillsets to see what the outcomes might be. 

This research and development project will aim to develop a model of delivery for offering opportunities through the local authority in the area of poetry films, and to offer mentorship and development specific to this medium for future interested creatives. Both English and Irish language poetry films will be explored during this phase.
