Grow Wild
Grow Wild is a children’s book written and Illustrated by Louth Artist and Illustrator Sean Cleary. It is a collaborative effort between Louth school children with an aim to promote a sense of optimistic stewardship of Irish Ecology among Irish youth. Placing children in the viewpoint of our native Irish fauna Grow Wild asks children “what if you lived in your own back garden or school?” From there children and guided to assess their green spaces as suitable habitat for Irish wildlife. Could a hedgehog or Robin make its home there? How could we help them?
The book follows a rhyming scheme to and was partially illustrated before the project began to engage with young readers. Through a series of workshops school children will be encouraged to engage with the narrative and create ideas and illustrations of their own around the idea of living in their green spaces. This feedback will be integral to informing the fished book, which will then be distributed to participating schools and collaborators.
