Going Coastal 2024

Going Coastal, a weekend of contemporary original music from Ireland’s western edge, takes place in Galway City from November 29th to December 1st. Featuring an exciting and diverse line-up of emerging and established artists, the festival spans three days across iconic westend venues The Blue Note, Bierhaus, and Róisín Dubh, with events curated by local promoters A Modern Movement, Free House, Strange Brew, Lovesick, and Little Island.

The weekend of live music kicks off on Friday November 29th with Limerick’s T.A Narrative and local psychobilly band The Gopniks at Bierhaus, followed by Clare native Daithi blending Irish traditional music with electronic beats at Róisín Dubh.

On Saturday November 30th The Blue Note hosts a Music & Art Market with live music from local artists such as Katie O’Connor, Eoin Dolan and Rosie Connolly, while Little Island’s curated open-mic at Róisín Dubh later that evening features local favourites Macdara O’Dwyer, Melon and Eva Griesbach. The full day of music ends with a late night special in the Róisín Dubh with A Modern Movement bringing Limerick’s Some Images of Paradise, Galway’s Van Gone and In Athens, and Clare’s Misvanity to the stage.

On Sunday December 1st Lovesick at The Blue Note wraps up the packed weekend with Galway’s Field Trip, Cork’s Aubrey Hennessy and Faoi Bhláth, Clare’s Fiona O’Connell, and Donegal’s Silver Winged They Fly offering a mix of indie-pop, folk, and shoegaze.
