Bringing film culture to young people across Galway City and County. Generation Fleadh (GF) comprises a 5-day event featuring film screenings, workshops and an educational film programme, annual outreach programme, collaborations with festivals and events, including the EFA and YIFM, and engagement opportunities for young people, including Young Critics, Film Club, and the GF Youth Council. 

GF’s aim is to promote film culture among young individuals aged 12 – 24, providing them with a platform to connect with like-minded people and celebrate Galway’s vibrant cinema culture. The youth voice is central to GF’s programming and planning, informing and shaping the annual events through the Youth Council and review panels. GF is evolving, refining its identity and purpose, and planning further development. GF was re-named in 2023 (formerly Junior Film Fleadh) after a consultation with the GF youth council and review panel. The fresh new branding and name aligns with Gen Z trends, catering to the festival’s target audience.
