Foróige Creative Gateway Project
Foróige Gateway seeks to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and the development of society through this creative youth development project.
There will be three elements to this programme for young people in Athlone
Film Making- giving participants a fun introduction to the craft of acting as well as a taste of drama school training. Participants will explore filmmaking, the different roles of film production and storytelling. Their work will culminate in a short film of 2-3 minutes in length using the skills they develop over the three-day programme.
DJ Workshops with a professional DJ- The young people will develop skills including timing with music and songs, rhythm, interpersonal skills for interacting with audience, stamina to be able to host an event, technical literacy, and creativity.
Upcycling programme- young people will use their creativity, challenging them to design, upcycle and create using "junk" and waste material. They will learn to patch, sew, glue and be challenged to think critically and creatively problem solving as they go.
As a culmination of the three projects a recognition event will take place with the young people DJ'ing, "cat walking" their creations and showing their short film.
