Embrace Music is a brand new social enterprise fronted by musicians, arts & health specialists Sadhbh O’Sullivan and Sharon Murphy. For the last seven years they have both worked together and separately in County Kildare running community choirs and delivering music sessions for people living with dementia and other age-related illnesses. Their vision is to create a society where older people in general, and those that are isolated in particular, have regular opportunities for meaningful cultural engagement in a manner that is convenient and enjoyable for them.

That shift in emphasis left Embrace Music well positioned to begin digital outreach very soon after Covid 19 began to disrupt the lives of so many. With nursing home residents cut off from their families and home carers deprived of the various supports and activities that they had relied upon for their loved ones, Embrace Music identified an urgent need for intervention. They have delivered 30 weekly live and interactive Sing-Along sessions from their Facebook Page, with groups from over 20 nursing homes joining in.

Embrace Music intends to be a consistent and reliable presence for older and vulnerable people far into the future, delivering high quality content that uplifts and improves both their mental and physical wellbeing using training-informed approaches. Embrace Music are absolutely delighted to receive funding from Creative Ireland, which gives them the ability to take action.
