Eachuisce agus an Pilibín : Exhibition

“Eachuisce agus an Pilibín…(the seahorse and the Lapwing) is a labour of love, exploring the relationship between imagination and art practice by Athy Women & Men’s Sheds, Athy Irish Wheelchair Service Users and Guests in collaboration with Birdwatch Kildare and artist Cathy Callan.

This showing of work, featuring 366 original artworks on miniature canvas (each artwork representing a single day of our 2024 leap year) is a celebration of time and a requiem for loss. It is a tribute to the art of painting and a quiet protest for endangered species everywhere.

All are welcome to the exhibition launch event at Athy Library, Thursday 17th October at 6:30pm.

The exhibition will then remain on display in Athy Library for one week.

Birdwatch Ireland is aware that nearly half of all bird species are in decline globally, but a staggering 63% of Ireland's birds are currently in decline. Tom McCormack from Birdwatch Kildare will deliver an engaging presentation on Ireland’s National Bird, the Lapwing and artist Cathy Callan will introduce the display of paintings and drawings with a short video. Following the talk and introduction, participants in the project and Tom and Cathy will be happy to answer any questions on the project and exhibition.
