As part of this year’s Culture Night celebrations, Offaly Libraries are delighted to host a variety of events in branches throughout the county.

Birr Library welcomes Play in Progress, which aims to show the audience an early reading of a play prior to performance on stage. Three actors will read a script based on the life of Lettice Fitzgerald Digby, 1st Baroness Offaly, Renaissance poet warrior with the Mona Lisa smile. The event will be introduced by author Eileen Casey, background narrative will precede the reading.

Eden Chorale, a mixed-voice community choir, will perform a varied selection to suit all music tastes in Edenderry Library at 6pm. Favourites such as Danny Boy, What A Wonderful World, Queen’s Somebody to Love and some ABBA will ensure an enjoyable evening is had by all.

Tullamore Library will welcome Patricia Gibney, bestselling author, whose debut novel, The Missing Ones, soared to number 2 on the Amazon UK Kindle charts and number 6 in the US while also securing the top spot in all its categories and is a bestseller in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia. Join Patricia as she engages in a captivating discussion with Claire O’Brien, presenter of the Midlands 103 arts show, exploring the inspiration behind her gripping stories and the journey to literary success.
