Creative Workshops for Older People
This project aims to coordinate, organise and support a series of Creative workshops in key geographical locations in Galway City, such as Ballinfoile, Westside, Shantalla, Ballybane and other key areas.
Each workshop will have an artistic focus such as music, art, photography, drama, creative writing or gentle exercise.
The workshops main objectives will be to give older people the opportunity to engage with other people in a safe and welcoming space, to enhance their mental and physical wellbeing through the medium of the arts and to help to combat social isolation and loneliness of older people in Galway City.
Participants will be identified by the Community Development Team of Galway City Partnership, in collaboration with other key organisations and agencies working with older people in Galway City.
We anticipate there will be three workshops in each area. Each workshop will be two hours in length. A total of 15 workshops will be completed by December.
The number of participant in each workshop will be strictly compliant with Covid 19 guidelines to ensure maximum safety of all participants. For this reason we envisage a total of about 6 people in each workshop.
The workshops will take place in local community and resource centres.
