Corrib River-lore Project
Using stories and folklore of the Corrib, the museum proposes to develop a fold-out map and multi-language walking guide to encourage people - Galwegians and visitors - to ramble off the beaten track and to learn about the City through its waterways.
The focal point of the trail is story of Galvia, the drowned mythical princess from whom it is said Galway - city, county and bay - takes its name
As well an encouraging physical activity through participating the walk, the project aims to highlight the natural environment within the urban landscape.
Additional elements include a temporary exhibition and an outreach project/guided walks with schools (especially those situated along the Corrib), community groups, active retirement clubs, etc.
