Cork Words; Anthology 2021
CorkWords was published in May 2020 a collection from 30 writers. This is the 2nd in the series showcasing established and emerging writers in Cork City. The first anthology is
The anthology was launched in Triskel Christchurch in September 2020 and included readings from a number of the contributors. CorkWords is for sale in Waterstones, Nano Nagle Place and The English Market.
The wonderful writings within it led to CorkWords on Windows which brought the poetry and prose to all the citizens of the city on the windows of various vacant businesses. It was launched for Culture Night. People were encouraged to take a photo of each piece to have a book of literature on their phone, to delve into at any. Placing of the poems and prose from the anthology encouraged all to enjoy the literature of the city.
Building on the success of the first anthology, other fringe events will be built around CorkWords 2021. Many writers have already expressed an interest in being included in the second anthology.
The project constructs a narrative to established Cork as a great place for writers to live and work, and a great place for readers to encounter writers from all over the world, as well as to copper-fasten this narrative in the public mind, and in the media; bringing together work from all the literary festivals in the city;
CorkWords is a legacy project fundamental to developing a wider creative economy and society.
