Community Mural Project
Supported by Meath County Council's Creative Ireland and Cruinniú na nÓg Programmes, Trim Family Resource Centre & Jigsaw Meath are collaborating to create an exciting & impactful mural on a laneway at Mornington Estate, Trim.
Building on the success of a previous mural created by local students from The Boyne CS with artist Mark Smith, this project will engage a diverse group of community members to design and paint 3 new murals, focusing on themes of mental health, wellbeing and biodiversity.
We aim to encourage a sense of community, creativity, and environmental awareness through this new initiative, guided by professional artist Meghan Quinn. The laneway at Mornington links both Trim FRC and the Mornington Estate with St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s Primary School, St Patrick’s Church and the centre of Trim, used daily by many community members. The project will target local people, with participants recruited through Jigsaw Meath’s networks and outreach within Trim. Interested people will come from schools and community groups in the area.
The initial workshop consultations, facilitated by the artist, will take place at the end of February in CareChoice Nursing Home with interested residents, young people and community members. The murals will integrate mental health and biodiversity themes, with final designs shaped by consultations with community members to ensure the murals are reflective of their ideas, experiences, and creativity.
