Castledaly Foróige gets creative
Castledaly Foróige is a youth club that currently has 34 teenage members.
The first proposed project is “Collecting memories”. This will involve all members recording audio and video interviews from elderly members of our community. We hope to catch funny anecdotes, lesser known local history and also the older generation’s reaction to the recent Covid 19 pandemic. We hope this project will archive valuable local history that otherwise could be lost. The end piece will be a dvd tribute with an edited version highlighting the best of all interviews, this will be something local households will treasure and always have to refer back to.
The second proposed project is to establish a lending library of musical instruments and recording equipment to be made available to all our members.
The third proposed project is to engage the young people of the club to create a Halloween themed display for the village using mostly recycled materials. We hope to engage Rosemary Langtry, a local artist, to hold workshops. She will develop their ideas and provide practical help in the building of their displays. This project will improve the young people’s skills at bringing an idea from conceptualisation to the finished piece. The pieces will be taken to a wider audience by placing displays around the village, uploaded onto our Facebook and in local media. Due to current Covid 19 restrictions most of the works will be carried out in the outside grounds of our community hall.
