Blue!
BLUE! is an interactive adventure , developed by theatre artist Anna Newell, that lasts approximately 35 minutes and involves 2 performers utilising the Imagination Playground that organically develops into an interactive session that the children (aged between 18 months and 4 years) and (sometimes!) their adults (parents/caregivers/early years staff) increasingly participate in and eventually lead. Blue was successfully piloted by DLR Arts Office with the Peter McVerry Trust, the DLR Children & Young People’s Services Committees and Pavilion Theatre. Dublin City Council Public Libraries and Arts Office and Play Development Officer are working collaboratively to test and support shared cultural and creative play objectives.
Creative Hubs seek to sustain high quality arts experiences for children, schools and families to access in their Library and locality, through partnership. The draft City Play Strategy supports actions which develop the potential for play within cultural life and the arts, promote accessible and inclusive play and includes opportunities for early years learning. Dublin City Council is developing collaborations which culminate in a 11 day tour of BLUE! to Libraries, family hubs and community and cultural venues. New audiences are linked to cultural/play services. The process is documented and evaluated, to inform future planning and accessible programming in areas of culture/play development.
