Birr Vintage Sunday Parade: Going with the Flow
Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival is developing a multi site visual arts trail ‘Going with the Flow’ exploring the waterways of Offaly through multi disciplinary, collaborative practices. There are 3 parts to this proposal.
1 ) The Call of the Shannon, Bernie Masterson is creating an immersive audio visual installation based on stories gathered about the Shannon experience of a diverse range of participants. This will be shown in Birr Castle Copper Leaf Gallery and will wrap the space through video mapping to create an immersive experience
2) The Flow of Fun, The Masonic Hall will be transformed into a multi-sensory immersive environment exploring play and taking inspiration from the Camcor River to engage with younger audiences. Paul Bokslag will work with primary schools to create repeat designs based on the flora and fauna of the river. These will cover geometric shapes as part of a playscape. Croneen Trout will be swimming through the space, constructed as willow lantern sculptures made in a workshop with Caoimhe Dunn
3) The River Runs Through It, Caoimhe Dunn will be working with Birr Community School to make a float for the Vintage Parade based on the flora and fauna of the inland waterways. This will be supplemented with workshops for younger children making additional parade props.
