Biodiversity in Schools
Clare County Council Biodiversity Office is delighted to present this first series of Biodiversity Education Workshops for schools in Clare.
Throughout Autumn 2023 a biodiversity specialist will visit nine primary schools and two secondary schools in County Clare to engage with students through creative learning about biodiversity. The workshops will raise awareness and enhance students learning and development around biodiversity.
The workshops will include activities such as creating bug hotels, log piles, mapping habitats on school grounds and devising enhancement measures for biodiversity such as creating a wildflower meadow. Activiteis will link with the ‘All Ireland Pollinator Plan’ as well as other biodiversity strategies. The schools encompass both DEIS schools and non-DEIS schools.
Schools were invited to book a place before the end of the 2022/2023 school year in June. All schools have been identified and the programme will commence in the Autumn of 2023.
