Supported by Open Call Strand 1: Community/Creative Collaboration Athlone Community Radio will showcase the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Roscommon through a two-day art event held at the Monksland Community Centre. 

Highlights will include:

A two-day art exhibition will showcase the work of local artists

A live broadcast on Athlone Community Radio which will celebrate and promote the diverse talents of local artists and provide a platform for community engagement

A series of workshops, readings, and demonstrations led by the participating artists will also make use of the pop-up space created for this event

Some of the artists who will feature include: • Amy Abdullah Barry – Poet, author of Flirting With Tigers (Dedalus Press) • Catherine Ivers – Radio documentary maker, creator of Exposing Sheela (2023) • Geraldine Beirne – Textile artist, known for combining traditional techniques with contemporary designs • Frances Crowe – Tapestry artist, award winner, and featured in the Homo Faber guide for Master Artisans • Bianca Fachel – Musician, performer at major festivals, with debut EP An Overseas Dream (2015) • Dympna Molloy – Sculptor and poet, known for her autobiographical sculptural installation In Front of My Eyes • Honor FitzGerald – Painter and printmaker, noted for her textured and layered artwork
